Department of Justice Releases Board of Medicine Review Findings

Concord, NH – Attorney General John M. Formella announces that the Department of Justice has concluded its review of the Board of Medicine, presented its findings to the Governor's Office, and releases its public findings today.

As announced when the review got underway in September, the State of New Hampshire strongly believes that ensuring the safety of the public is government's top priority, and to make certain Granite Staters can have the highest confidence in their hospitals, doctors, as well as in the State's important healthcare oversight structure and practices, Governor Chris Sununu and Attorney General Formella agreed that a review of the practices of the New Hampshire Board of Medicine, along with the rules and statutes that govern their activities, was necessary.

It is our expectation that the conclusions of the review will be used to inform any necessary changes to statute or rules that will improve the system going forward.

As described in greater detail in the public summary, much of the material reviewed by DOJ is subject to statutory confidentiality requirements. Given these requirements, the State will not be able to comment on the review beyond what it was able to make available in the public summary.
