Officer-Involved Shooting Investigation in Franklin, New Hampshire

Concord, NH – Attorney General John M. Formella announces that members of the Attorney General’s Office are responding to an officer-involved shooting that occurred early this morning at a residence in Franklin, New Hampshire.

The incident involved an adult male resident and members of the New Hampshire State Police SWAT Team which had been directed to the residence for a report of a barricaded suspect following an armed disturbance in the area.

That disturbance triggered a shelter-in-place order for residents in the area of Central and West Bow Streets in Franklin overnight. That order has since been lifted.

Life saving measures were attempted, but the resident was shot and has died. The identity of that individual is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. An autopsy will be scheduled by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. No law enforcement officers have been physically injured and there is no threat to the public.

Pursuant to protocol, the names of the officers involved in the incident are being withheld pending the conclusion of formal interviews.

The exact circumstances surrounding this incident remain under active investigation.
