James Brooks Sentenced to 11 to 24 years in the New Hampshire State Prison on Various Methamphetamine Charges

Concord, NH - Attorney General John M. Formella and Drug Task Force Commander Ellen Arcieri announce that James Brooks, age 40, of Wakefield, New Hampshire, has pled guilty to three counts of sale of a controlled drug (subsequent offense) and one count of possession of a controlled drug with the intent to sell (subsequent offense), and was sentenced by the Carroll County Superior Court.

On the first two counts of sale of a controlled drug (subsequent offense), the Court sentenced Mr. Brooks to a total of 11 to 24 years in the New Hampshire State Prison, stand committed, with the opportunity to earn 2 years suspended from the minimum sentence for successful completion of the FOCUS Program while incarcerated. In turn, on the third count of sale of a controlled drug (subsequent offense) and the count of possession of a controlled drug with the intent to sell (subsequent offense), the Court sentenced Mr. Brooks to a total of 10 to 20 years in the New Hampshire State Prison, all suspended for 10 years upon his release from incarceration, to run consecutively to his stand committed sentence if imposed.

During the course of the 2021 investigation by the Attorney General's Drug Task Force in this case, Mr. Brooks sold methamphetamine to a Drug Task Force informant on various occasions. Additional investigation revealed that Mr. Brooks purchased and sold large quantities of methamphetamine and other illegal substances over a multi-month period in the Carroll County area and was in possession of methamphetamine and a large amount of United States currency when he was arrested in July of 2021.

The investigation and resolution of this case are the result of the collaborative efforts of the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office, the Attorney General's Drug Task Force, the New Hampshire State Police, and the Wakefield Police Department.
