Concord, NH – Attorney General John M. Formella and Nashua Police Chief Kevin Rourke announce that an arrest has been made in the suspicious death investigation that began in Nashua this morning.
Beginning at approximately 11:25 a.m. on August 5, 2022, Nashua police officers responded to a business on Amherst Street in Nashua, in response to calls reporting in substance that a person had been shot. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered Lee Knoetig (age 53) laying outside the business, unresponsive and with an apparent gunshot wound to his chest. Mr. Knoetig subsequently was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Alexander Wheeler (age 19) of Nashua, New Hampshire, has been arrested and charged with one count of second-degree murder for recklessly causing the death of Mr. Knoetig under circumstances manifesting an extreme indifference to the value of human life, by shooting him.
It is anticipated that Mr. Wheeler will be arraigned in Hillsborough County Superior Court in Nashua on Monday, August 8, 2022, at a time to be scheduled by the Court.
The charge and allegations against Mr. Wheeler are merely accusations, and he is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
