State v. Viterbo Enrique-Minaya – Plea of Guilty to Selling Drugs That Caused the Death of Brandon Laurion

Concord, NH -- New Hampshire Attorney General John M. Formella announces that Viterbo Enrique-Minaya, age 34, of Lawrence, MA pleaded guilty on August 5, 2021, in Strafford County Superior Court to selling fentanyl that caused the death of Brandon Laurion (age 30) of Rochester, NH.

Mr. Enrique-Minaya was sentenced to 15-30 years in the New Hampshire State Prison. Two years of the minimum sentence was suspended, and Mr. Minaya may earn an additional three years suspended off of the minimum if he qualifies for and successfully completes substance abuse programming while incarcerated.

On Sunday, October 30, 2016, Mr. Laurion and his girlfriend, Sarah Quint, arranged to purchase drugs through Robert Brochu and Amber Nicholson. Ms. Nicholson subsequently purchased fentanyl from Mr. Enrique-Minaya in Lawrence, MA, and then returned to Rochester, NH, where the drugs were given to Mr. Brochu, who then distributed them to Ms. Quint and Mr. Laurion. Mr. Laurion was subsequently found dead early in the morning of October 31, 2016. The cause of Mr. Laurion's death was determined to be acute fentanyl intoxication. Mr. Brochu, Ms. Nicholson, and Ms. Quint, have all previously pleaded guilty for their respective roles in Mr. Laurion's death.

This successful investigation and prosecution was the result of a joint investigation and collaboration by the Rochester Police Department, the United States Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Massachusetts State Police with the assistance of the New Hampshire Department of Justice's Drug Prosecution Unit. This case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant Attorney General Danielle H. Sakowski, Assistant Attorney General Jesse O'Neill, and Assistant Attorney General Meghan C. Hagaman.
