Plea and in connection with June 1, 2016 shooting incident in Manchester, New Hampshire
(State v. John Gebo)

New Hampshire Attorney General Gordon J. MacDonald and Manchester Police Chief Enoch F. Willard announce that John Gebo pled guilty today and was sentenced in connection with a shooting incident that occurred on June 1, 2016 in Manchester, New Hampshire.

On June 1, 2016, Manchester police officers responded to the report of a shooting in the parking lot at the back of a building located at 135 Spruce Street in Manchester. When officers arrived, they discovered that Ashley Thompson (age 25) had been shot and suffered a non-life threatening leg wound. Nearby, the police found Hans R. Odige (age 35) of Manchester, deceased on the ground. An autopsy later confirmed that Mr. Odige died as a result of a single gunshot wound.

After an intensive investigation, the Manchester Police Department identified a suspect in the shooting. That suspect, John Gebo (age 31), pled guilty today to Second-Degree Murder, for causing Hans Odige's death, and First-degree Assault, for wounding Ashley Thompson. The Court imposed a sentence of thirty years to life in prison on the murder charge, and a consecutive sentence of seven and one half to fifteen years in prison on the assault charge. The sentence on the assault charge is suspended for ten years, effective upon Mr. Gebo's release from prison, conditioned upon his good behavior and all other conditions of his sentence.

The successful resolution of this case was the result of the collaborative efforts of the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office, the Manchester Police Department, and the Hillsborough County Attorney's Office.
