Eric Corliss Pleads Guilty to Theft by Unauthorized Taking

New Hampshire Attorney General, Joseph A. Foster announces that Eric Corliss, 44, of Barnstead, NH pleaded guilty today in Belknap County Superior Court to one charge of Theft by Unauthorized Taking.

Mr. Corliss sold a John Deere front loader to the victim in April, 2015 for $10,000. Mr. Corliss agreed to keep the front loader on his property while the victim arranged to have a truck pick up the loader. Although Mr. Corliss received full payment from the victim, he sold the same front loader to a second buyer in May, 2015 for $8,000. Mr. Corliss did not disclose the second sale to the victim and repeatedly lied to the victim about what had happened to the front loader.

Prior to today's hearing, Mr. Corliss paid the victim $2,250 in restitution. Pursuant to a negotiated plea agreement, Mr. Corliss was sentenced to serve 1–3 years in the New Hampshire State Prison. The prison sentence was fully suspended for 5 years conditioned on Mr. Corliss remaining of good behavior, paying the remaining $7,750 in restitution to the victim, and having no further contact with the victim.
