Criminal Charges Brought Against Law Enforcement Officers in Connection With May 11, 2016 Arrest

Attorney General Joseph A. Foster announces that Trooper Joseph Flynn, age 32, of the Massachusetts State Police and Trooper Andrew Monaco, age 31, of the New Hampshire State Police have been arrested and charged with simple assault stemming from their the use of force in connection with the arrest of Richard Simone, Jr. on May 11, 2016.

Trooper Flynn is charged with two counts of simple assault and Trooper Monaco is charged with three counts of simple assault. They were released on $2000 personal recognizance and $3000 personal recognizance respectively. Because they were both on duty law enforcement officers at the time the acts were committed, the charges are subject to an enhanced penalty pursuant to RSA 651:6,I(h).

Trooper Flynn and Trooper Monaco are scheduled to be arraigned on September 13, 2016 at 8:15 a.m. in the 9th Circuit Court - District Division in Nashua.
