Derek T. Castonguay Pleads Guilty to Voter Fraud

Attorney General Joseph A. Foster announced today that Derek T. Castonguay of Manchester, New Hampshire, pled guilty in the 10th Circuit Court, District Division, Salem, to the charge of voter fraud under to RSA 659:34, I (a). An investigation by the Attorney General's Office revealed that Castonguay knowingly made a false material statement regarding his qualifications to vote in the Town of Salem. The evidence showed that on November 4, 2014, during the State General Election, while registering to vote in Salem, Castonguay represented his address to be 11 Alfred Drive, Salem, which he knew to be false. Castonguay had formerly resided at this address but at the time of the election was domiciled in Manchester. Castonguay received a 12 month suspended sentence and was ordered to pay a $1,000.00 fine plus a 24% penalty assessment. Having been convicted of a willful violation of a state election law, Castonguay loses his right to vote under the New Hampshire Constitution, Part I, Article 11.
