Statement on the Passing of Longtime Derry, New Hampshire Police Chief Ed Garone

Concord, NH – Attorney General John M. Formella released the following statement on the passing of longtime Derry Police Chief Ed Garone:

"The New Hampshire Department of Justice salutes longtime Derry Police Chief Ed Garone. While we are saddened to learn of his passing, we are inspired by his lifetime of selfless public service. Chief Garone will long be remembered for his dedication to the people of New Hampshire and his half-century of work leading the Derry Police Department. Not only was Ed the longest-serving Police Chief in Granite State history, he was also a devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, and a proud U.S. Marine Corps Veteran. Chief Garone set a very high standard for community service, investing hours upon hours of his personal time to help the Derry community through organizations like the Boys and Girls Club, the Derry Rotary Club and the Derry Veterans Assistance Fund. Our hearts go out to the Garone family, the Derry Police Department, and all those who knew and loved Chief Garone."
