Indictment of Theodore Luckey for the Murders of Nathan Cashman and David Hanford

Concord, NH – Attorney General John M. Formella announces that Theodore Luckey (age 43), formerly of Asbury Park, New Jersey, has been indicted by the Hillsborough County Grand Jury in connection with the deaths of Nathan Cashman and David Hanford on August 21, 2021, at a hotel in Bedford, New Hampshire.

Mr. Luckey was indicted for three counts of murder: (1) one count of first-degree murder related to the death of Nathan Cashman, for purposely causing the death of Mr. Cashman by inflicting multiple chop wounds to him with a machete-type knife; (2) one count of first-degree murder for purposely causing the death of David Hanford by strangling him; and (3) an alternative count of second-degree murder related to the death of Mr. Hanford, for recklessly causing Mr. Hanford's death under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference to the value of human life by strangling him.

Mr. Luckey was also indicted for three counts of convicted felons, commonly known as felon in possession of a deadly weapon, for knowingly possessing: (1) a machete-type knife, (2) a firearm, and (3) metallic knuckles.

Mr. Luckey continues to be held without bail. The charges and allegations set forth in the indictments are merely accusations, and Theodore Luckey is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
