Autopsy Results in the October 19, 2020 Officer-Involved Shooting in Thornton, New Hampshire

Concord, NH – Attorney General Gordon J. MacDonald announces additional information concerning the officer-involved shooting incident that occurred on Monday, October 19, 2020, in Thornton, New Hampshire. During that incident, a Thornton Police Officer shot Ethan Freeman, age 37.

Earlier today, Deputy Chief Medical Examiner Mitchell Weinberg conducted an autopsy on Mr. Freeman, and determined that the cause of his death was gunshot wounds to the chest. Mr. Freeman was shot twice. The manner of his death is homicide. As used by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, homicide is defined as the killing of one person by another.

The exact circumstances surrounding this incident remain actively under investigation. No further information will be released until after the involved officer's formal interview is completed.
