Autopsy Results in the August 1, 2019 Officer-Involved Shooting in Weare, New Hampshire

Concord, NH – Attorney General Gordon J. MacDonald and New Hampshire State Police Colonel Christopher J. Wagner announce additional information concerning the officer-involved shooting that occurred on August 1, 2019, in Weare, New Hampshire.

Earlier today, New Hampshire Chief Medical Examiner Jennie V. Duval conducted an autopsy on Jeffrey Clough-Gavin (age 43). Dr. Duval determined that the cause of Mr. Clough-Gavin's death was a shotgun wound to the chest, and that his manner of death is suicide. Dr. Duval also determined that Mr. Clough-Gavin sustained additional gunshot wounds in addition to the self-inflicted shotgun wound.

The investigation into Mr. Clough-Gavin's encounter with the police preceding his encounter with police is ongoing.
