Update Regarding Death Investigation in Hampton, New Hampshire

Concord, NH – Attorney General Gordon J. MacDonald, New Hampshire State Police Colonel Christopher J. Wagner, and Hampton Police Chief Richard E. Sawyer announce further information regarding the death investigation that commenced in Hampton, New Hampshire on April 20, 2019.

On April 20, 2019, Hampton police officers responded to a 911 call for an incident at an apartment in Hampton. Once there, they discovered a resident of that apartment, Juan Astacio (age 34), unconscious with obvious injuries. Mr. Astacio was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy on Mr. Astacio on Monday, April 22, 2019. The manner of his death is homicide. The cause of his death is being withheld pending further investigation.
