Investigation in Conway, New Hampshire

Concord, NH – Attorney General Gordon J. MacDonald, New Hampshire State Police Colonel Christopher J. Wagner, and Conway Police Chief Edward K. Wagner announce that there is an ongoing investigation into the discovery of deceased human remains in Conway, New Hampshire. The remains cannot be immediately classified as a fetus or a child in accordance with RSA 630:1-a,V(b)(1).

On February 5, 2019, Conway police were notified of the discovery of fully intact human remains at the Conway Wastewater Treatment Plant. Authorities are in the process of trying to determine how the remains came to be at the plant, although transportation through the sewer system appears to be the most likely explanation.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy tomorrow.

Authorities are attempting to locate the mother to ensure her safety and well-being and determine the circumstances that led to the discovery. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Conway Police Department at (603) 356-5715.
