Guilty Pleas in State v. Keith Colado
Concord, NH – Attorney General Gordon J. MacDonald, Strafford County Sheriff David Dubois, and Dover Police Chief William Breault jointly announce that Keith Colado, 43, of Dover pleaded guilty today in Strafford County Superior Court to two counts of possession of a controlled drug (carfentanil and cocaine).
Mr. Colado was sentenced to 2-4 years in the New Hampshire State Prison for possession of over 5 grams of the controlled drug carfentanil. Mr. Colado has the opportunity, to earn 6 months off the minimum portion of his sentence if certain conditions are met. Mr. Colado was also sentenced to a consecutive suspended New Hampshire State Prison sentence of 2-4 years for possession of over one half gram of the controlled drug cocaine.
On October 11, 2017, members of the Strafford County Drug Task Force and the Dover Police Department surveilled Mr. Colado as he appeared to meet with a suspected narcotics dealer in a Dover parking lot for a drug transaction. Law enforcement subsequently stopped Mr. Colado and found cocaine on his person during the roadside stop. Following his arrest, police searched Mr. Colado and located carfentanil also on his person.
This successful investigation and prosecution was the result of the joint efforts of the Strafford County Drug Task Force and the Dover Police Department with the assistance of the New Hampshire Department of Justice's Drug Prosecution Unit. Assistant Attorney General Danielle Sakowski prosecuted this case.
