Arrest and Arraignment of Phillip Nash on Murder Charge

Attorney General Gordon J. MacDonald, State Police Colonel Christopher Wagner, and Canterbury Police Chief Michael Labrecque announce that Phillip Nash (age 21) has been arrested and charged with Knowing Second-Degree Murder for causing the death of his mother, Frances Nash (age 51).

Ms. Nash had been reported missing on May 19, 2018. She was later discovered deceased on May 21, 2018 in Canterbury, New Hampshire. The Chief Medical Examiner later conducted an autopsy on Ms. Nash’s remains and determined that she died as a result of multiple stab wounds and her manner of death was homicide.

An arrest warrant was issued for Mr. Nash on May 21, 2018 for Theft by Unauthorized Taking for stealing Ms. Nash's car as well as an employer’s truck. Mr. Nash was subsequently located and taken into custody in Emporia, Virginia on May 21, 2018. He subsequently waived extradition and arrived in New Hampshire last night.

Mr. Nash is scheduled to be arraigned on the murder charge and two theft charges in the Merrimack County Superior Court today at 1:00 p.m.
