Arrest of Christopher Romaine for Possessing 30 Fingers of a Substance Purported to be Heroin

New Hampshire Attorney General Gordon J. MacDonald, Chief David B. Goldstein of the Franklin Police Department, and Chief Robert L. Cormier of the Tilton Police Department announce that Christopher Romaine (age 23) of Manchester was arrested yesterday afternoon in Tilton by members of the Attorney General's Drug Task Force, the Franklin Police Department and the Tilton Police Department, on charges of possession with intent to distribute heroin and conspiracy to sell heroin. Mr. Romaine was taken into custody by officers after a short foot chase when he fled the vehicle he was operating. Thirty fingers of a substance purported to be heroin were seized from the car. A finger is approximately ten grams of heroin. The value of the thirty fingers of heroin seized was approximately $9,000. Romaine was subsequently transported to Belknap County Jail pending court proceedings. At the time of his arrest, Mr. Romaine was on bail from the 9th Circuit Court, Manchester District, for possession of a controlled drug and unsworn falsification stemming from his arrest on July 4th of this year.

The charges and allegations set forth in the charges brought are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until he is proven guilty.
