Conviction and sentencing in Wentworth, New Hampshire homicide case

New Hampshire Attorney General Gordon J. MacDonald, New Hampshire State Police Colonel Christoher J. Wagner, and Wentworth Police Chief Wallace Trott announce the resolution of the homicide case concerning the death Todd Downing (age 60).

Todd Downing had been found injured at his home at 234 Atwell Hill Road in Wentworth on November 23, 2016. He was treated at the scene and later died at a local hospital. An autopsy was done, which determined that his cause of death was blunt impact injuries and that his manner of death was homicide.

Thomas E. Corliss (age 30), was later arrested and charged with causing Todd Downing's death by physically assaulting him multiple times. At a hearing in the Grafton County Superior Court today, Mr. Corliss pled guilty to Manslaughter. After a contested sentencing hearing, the Court imposed the State's recommended sentence and sentenced Mr. Corliss to serve fifteen to thirty years in prison.

The successful resolution of this case was the result of the collaborative efforts of the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office, the New Hampshire State Police, and the Wentworth Police Department.
