Suspicious Death investigation in Durham, New Hampshire

New Hampshire Attorney General Joseph A. Foster, Colonel Christopher J. Wagner of the New Hampshire State Police and Durham Police Chief David Kurz announce that an investigation is ongoing into a suspicious death in Durham.

This morning at approximately 1:00 a.m. police responded to a 9-1-1 call for a disturbance at 18 Edgewood Road, in Durham. Upon arrival the police located a deceased male. That male has been identified as Michael Barrett (22) of Dover, New Hampshire.

An autopsy will be performed on Mr. Barrett's body by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner tomorrow to determine the exact cause and manner of death.

An investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances of Mr. Barrett's death. The authorities believe they have identified all of the parties involved in this incident and therefore do not believe that there is a current danger to the community. While the circumstances are still under investigation, part of the investigation includes whether this incident involved the use of self-defense.

Anyone with information regarding this incident should contact Sgt. John Sonia at the New Hampshire State Police Major Crime Unit at 603-223-8578.
