State v. Dorothy Champagne

Attorney General Joseph Foster announces that on August 17, 2016, Dorothy Champagne was sentenced on three counts of theft (class A felony). Ms. Champagne, who was formerly an accountant in the main office of the New Hampshire State Liquor Commission, plead guilty to making 36 unauthorized monetary transfers from the New Hampshire State Liquor Commission to her and her husband's personal debit and credit cards between June 2011 and October 2014. The total amount of the theft was $79,488.39.

The Court imposed a sentence of 12 months in the house of corrections with six months suspended for two years and two years of probation, with the ability to petition for termination of probation after one year. Ms. Champagne was also sentenced to two consecutive sentences of 7½ to 15 years in the New Hampshire State Prison all suspended for 15 years. Ms. Champagne has paid full restitution for the thefts.
