Attorney General Joseph A. Foster, New Hampshire State Police Colonel Robert L. Quinn, and Londonderry Police Chief William R. Hart, announce that additional information is available regarding a homicide investigation in Londonderry, New Hampshire.

On May 24, 2016, Londonderry police officers responded to 2 Currier Road in Londonderry to check on the welfare of the resident, Richard R. Verville (age 71). During a search of the home, police discovered Daniel Rabideau (age 59), who was dead from an apparent gunshot wound. During a further search of the home, police discovered Richard Verville, who was critically injured but alive, with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Mr. Verville was taken to a hospital in Massachusetts where he later died.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Massachusetts completed an autopsy on Mr. Verville on May 26, 2016. Mr. Verville's cause of death was a single gunshot wound to the head and his manner of death is suicide.

The investigation has revealed that Mr. Rabideau, a City Fuel employee, went to Mr. Verville's home on the morning of May 24, 2016. Mr. Rabideau went there to perform a scheduled annual tune-up of the heating system. The physical evidence at the scene is consistent with Mr. Verville shooting Mr. Rabideau from behind while Mr. Rabideau was working on the heating system. Afterwards, Mr. Verville went to another part of the home and shot himself.

Mr. Verville had used the services of City Fuel in the past for problems with his heating system. Other than that, there is no evidence of any other interactions or relationship between Mr. Rabideau and Mr. Verville. Instead, the incident appears to have been the result of Mr. Verville's significant mental health issues.

The investigation is still ongoing.
