Arrest in the Murder of Craig Guillemette in Nashua, New Hampshire

New Hampshire Attorney General Joseph A. Foster and Nashua Police Chief Andrew Lavoie announce that an arrest has been made in connection with the murder of Craig Guillemette (age 46) of Nashua.

Thomas Smith (age 32), of Lowell, Massachusetts, has been arrested and charged with murdering Craig Guillemette. The second-degree murder complaint charges Smith with recklessly causing the death of Craig Guillemette, under circumstances manifesting an extreme indifference to the value of human life, by repeatedly striking Guillemette in the head with his fist and/or knee, and causing him to fall down a flight of stairs.

Guillemette was assaulted outside of his Worcester Street apartment in Nashua on the night of the Winter Holiday Stroll, November 29, 2014. He was found the following day inside an apartment on Lowell Street in Nashua. He was later transported to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center, and ultimately airlifted to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston where he died several days later.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Massachusetts completed an autopsy and found the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head and the manner of death was homicide.

Smith's arraignment is expected to take place around 10:00 a.m., on May 19, 2015, at the 9th Circuit Court – District Division Court in Nashua, New Hampshire.
