Joint Complaint To Remove James Reams As The Rockingham County Attorney Filed With The Court

Attorney General Joseph A. Foster announces that a complaint was filed for the removal of James Reams as the Rockingham County Attorney. The complaint is based on the facts revealed during the five month investigation into Reams in his capacity as the Rockingham County Attorney. The complaint was filed in Merrimack Superior Court and was filed jointly with the Rockingham County Commissioners. The complaint seeks removal of Reams pursuant to RSA 661:9, IV, which provides that "[a]ny officer of a county…may be removed by the superior court for official misconduct." Because of the pending litigation surrounding the complaint filed today, the Attorney General's Office will not be making any further public comment regarding this complaint.
