Elizabeth Whitehead Sentenced for Stealing from Elderly Mother-in-Law

Attorney General Gordon J. MacDonald announces that Elizabeth Whitehead, age 53, of East Derry, was sentenced on August 6, 2018 in Hillsborough Superior Court, Northern District, to 1 class-A felony count of Theft by Unauthorized Taking. After pleading guilty on May 15, 2018, the Court sentenced Whitehead to 1 ½ - 3 years at the New Hampshire State Prison, stand committed, with 6 months of the minimum portion of the sentence suspended for 5 years from the date of Whitehead’s release from State Prison, conditioned upon her good behavior and her repayment of restitution to the victim.

An investigation conducted by the Manchester Police Department revealed that between April, 2014 and February, 2015, Elizabeth Whitehead forged bank withdrawal slips in order to withdraw money from her 87-year old mother-in-law’s bank account. The investigation showed that Whitehead forged 29 withdrawal slips and withdrew $44,000.00 of the victim’s money. At the sentencing hearing, Whitehead disputed the amount of money she had taken. The Court will schedule a hearing in the near future to determine the total amount of restitution owed to the victim.
