Governor Lynch Commemorates
NATIONAL Crime Victim Rights Week

(Concord, New Hampshire) - Governor John Lynch will join the Attorney General’s Office, crime victims and professionals who work to provide services and support to help them recover from the impact of crime, to observe 2008 National Crime Victim Rights Week.

This year’s theme “Justice for Victims: Justice for All” reminds us that victims' concerns affect everyone because we are all vulnerable to crime. It is time to pay tribute to those citizens who have been impacted by crime, to build public awareness about the challenges crime victims face, and to celebrate the hard-won progress in victim rights and services in New Hampshire.

A press conference will be held at 11:00 am in the Parish Hall of St. Paul's Church, Park Street in Concord (next to the State House). Moving displays, including the victims’ memorial quilts and tributes to our state’s homicide victims, will be set up and a new victims' memorial quilt and the 2008 Clothesline Project, sponsored by the AmeriCorps Victim Assistance Program, will be unveiled.

At 5:30 pm, a memorial service to pay tribute to all those who have been traumatized by violent crime will be held at St. Paul's Church, followed by a reception.

According to Attorney General Kelly Ayotte, “Victims' rights are a critical component of the promise of 'justice for all', the foundation of our system of justice in America. Please join us as we pay tribute to the strength and courage of those New Hampshire citizens who have been victimized and to those that work so hard to ensure their rights are protected.”
