Update on Officer-Involved Shooting in Nashua, New Hampshire

Concord, NH - Attorney General John M. Formella and State Police Colonel Mark B. Hall announce an update to the officer-involved shooting investigation in Nashua, New Hampshire.

At about 11:47 p.m. on January 20, 2024, a 911 call was placed reporting in substance that there was a domestic disturbance at the residence of 49 Marie Avenue in Nashua, and that an adult male had a firearm. Officers with the Nashua Police Department responded to the residence, and outside the home encountered the subject of the 911 call, armed with a handgun. At one point during that armed confrontation, one police officer discharged a less-than-lethal projectile, and three other police officers fired bullets at the adult male. The adult male went into the residence, where he was later found by the police to be nonresponsive and suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. That adult male died at the scene.

No other private citizens, and no law enforcement officers, were physically injured during the incident under investigation, and there is no threat to the public. The investigation by the New Hampshire Department of Justice and the New Hampshire State Police Major Crimes Unit into the officer-involved shooting is ongoing. The identity of the deceased adult male, as well as the cause and matter of his death, will be disclosed upon conclusion of his autopsy, which is scheduled for January 22, and notification of those results to his next of kin. Pursuant to protocol, the identity of the four police officers who fired at the adult male will not be disclosed until formal interviews have occurred.
