Manchester Bar Operator, Sophea Yay, Pleads Guilty to Theft and Perjury

New Hampshire Attorney General Joseph A. Foster announces that, earlier today, Sophea Yay (age 34) of Manchester pled guilty in Hillsborough County Superior Court Northern Division to theft and perjury.

Ms. Yay operates and manages Central Ale House in Manchester. From March of 2014 through August of 2015, Ms. Yay stole a total of $37,101.01 when she collected meals and rentals payments from her patrons, and then failed to remit a substantial portion of those payments to the Department of Revenue each month, and dealt with the money as her own.

During the underlying investigation, Ms. Yay testified in front of the Hillsborough County Northern Division Grand Jury, and made a false, material statement when she lied about her past involvement in the business.

Ms. Yay was sentenced to two concurrent State Prison sentences of 3.5 – 7 years, all of which was suspended on the condition of good behavior for three years. As part of the sentence, Ms. Yay submitted a full restitution payment of $37,101.01 at today’s hearing to the Department of Revenue.
