John Laroche - Canterbury Police Chief

Attorney Joseph A. Foster announces that John Laroche (age 44) was arrested today on one count of aggravated felonious sexual assault.

The complaint charges that between January 1, 1999 and August 3, 2000, John Laroche, while in the vicinity of the boat ramp in Boscawen, committed the crime of Aggravated Felonious Sexual Assault in violation of RSA 632-A:2, I(k) with a female (between the age of 16 & 17) who was not his legally married spouse when Laroche was in a position of authority over the female and used this authority to coerce her to submit. At the time of the assault, Laroche was a Boscawen Police officer who oversaw the Boscawen Police Explorer Program and the victim was a Police Explorer. The assault was reported by the victim to the Boscawen Police on September 11, 2014. Shortly thereafter, this office was notified of the allegation and an investigation was initiated.

Laroche is currently the chief of the Canterbury Police Department.

It is anticipated that Laroche will be arraigned in the 6th Circuit-District Division-Franklin Court tomorrow morning. Bail has been set in the amount of $5,000 cash or surety bond.
