Homicide in Somersworth, NH

New Hampshire Attorney General Joseph A. Foster, State Police Colonel Robert L. Quinn and Somersworth Police Chief Dean Crombie announce that an investigation is ongoing into a homicide that has occurred in Somersworth, New Hampshire.

At approximately 5:48 p.m. on Friday, June 14, 2013, emergency personnel and the Somersworth police responded to a 911 call that was placed from apartment #2, 231 High Street in Somersworth. Once there, they discovered Noah York, a 2-year-old male child who was in distress. That child was transported to the Wentworth Douglas Hospital and later pronounced dead.

Upon further investigation, it was determined that Jared Pope (age 30) of Somersworth, New Hampshire had caused the child's death. He has been arrested and charged with Manslaughter. Mr. Pope is expected to be arraigned on the Manslaughter charge on Monday, June 17, 2013, in the 7th Circuit Court - District Division, in Dover, New Hampshire.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will be conducting an autopsy on Noah York later on today.

The investigation is ongoing.
