New Hampshire Attorney General Michael A. Delaney, New Hampshire State Police Colonel, Robert C. Quinn, and Littleton Police Chief Paul Smith announce that an autopsy was completed Monday on the body of Dr. Catherine Houghton (70) of Nevato, California. Deputy Chief Medical Examiner Jennie Duval determined that the cause of Dr. Houghton's death was a stab wound to the neck. The manner of her death was homicide.
Dr. Houghton was found stabbed at the Hampton Inn, in Littleton, NH on Monday night, January 28, 2013. She was transported to the Littleton Regional Hospital where she later died. Rodney Hill (37) of West Danville, Vermont, was arraigned in the Littleton District Court on January 29, 2013, on Second Degree Murder charges for causing the death of Dr. Houghton by stabbing her in the neck and torso. Mr. Hill is being held without bail at the Grafton County House of Corrections. A probable cause hearing is scheduled for February 5, 2013, at 9:00 a.m. in the Littleton District Court.
The circumstances surrounding this homicide remain under investigation.
