Attorney General Michael Delaney announces that Thibeault Corporation of New England ("TCNE") has pled guilty to four felonies for transporting solid waste without a permit, and storing it in New Hampshire at non-permitted facilities in Allenstown and Londonderry. The Merrimack County Superior Court sentenced TCNE to pay fines totaling $50,000 by January 7, 2013. An additional $50,000 in fines was suspended contingent on the company's good behavior.
It is unlawful to transport solid waste in New Hampshire without a permit authorized by the Department of Environmental Services ("NHDES"), or to store or dispose of solid waste at a facility other than a permitted solid waste facility. "The legislature put these solid waste requirements in place for the safety and benefit of all of us and our environment," said NHDES Commissioner Thomas Burack.
The investigation leading to these convictions was a joint effort between the Attorney General's Office, NHDES, the federal Environmental Protection Agency/Criminal Investigation Division ("EPA/CID"), the Allenstown Police Department and the Londonderry Police Department.
