Copies can also be obtained from the Office of the Attorney General, 33 Capitol Street, Concord, NH, 03301.
The Charitable Trusts Unit of the Office of the Attorney General oversees the over 8,500 charitable non-profits that operate in New Hampshire. Through registration, education, and enforcement, the Charitable Trust Unit seeks to protect the public's interest in ensuring that charitable funds are used for their underlying charitable purpose. The Guidebook is intended to assist New Hampshire's citizens who volunteer their time and efforts to the State's non-profits. It was prepared by the Charitable Trusts Unit as a quick reference tool for those individuals who serve as directors, trustees, officers, and executive directors of New Hampshire charitable non-profit organizations. The Guidebook is intended to provide useful and necessary information to educate non-profit volunteers of their duties and responsibilities in order to enable them to operate in compliance with the law and in the best interests of their respective organizations.
