Attorney General Michael A. Delaney and New Hampshire State Police Colonel Robert Quinn announce that Barry Winters has been arrested in Massachusetts as a fugitive from justice. Upon his return to New Hampshire, Winters will be charged with first degree murder for purposely causing the death of Evelyn Spodnik by pouring gasoline on her and lighting her on fire. Ms. Spodnik died on July 1, 2011, as a result of the injuries she sustained on June 29, 2011. The manner of her death has been ruled a homicide. Since Ms. Spodnik's death, Winters had been in a Boston hospital recovering from his self-inflicted injuries. He was arrested earlier today prior to his release from the hospital. Winters will likely be arraigned later today in a Boston court as a fugitive from justice.
