James T. Boffetti, Senior Assistant Attorney General
Chief, Consumer Protection & Antitrust Bureau
New Hampshire Attorney General Michael A. Delaney has announced that Allcare Dental and Dentures, at the urging of the New Hampshire Department of Justice and the Board of Dental Examiners, has agreed to open both New Hampshire offices located at 2 Cellu Drive, Suite 107 Nashua and 1525 South Willow Street Manchester, on Thursday, January 6, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The offices will not be fully staffed and no treatment will be available. Only those patients in immediate need of their dental records and those patients who were expecting to receive dental appliances, such as dentures, will be dealt with at that time. Patients must appear in person and bring photo identification to pick up copies of their records. Exceptions will be made for parents and/or legal guardians of minor children. Representatives from the Attorney General's Consumer Protection Bureau will be at both sites to answer questions from consumers.
Records for patients who have not been seen in over one year are archived out of state and will not be available through the office on January 6th.
Although payment disputes will not be addressed on Thursday, the following advice may be useful.
The New Hampshire Dental Society has offered to provide assistance in locating alternative providers. They can be reached at 1-800-244-5961 or www.nhds.org.
The New Hampshire Board of Dental Examiners met yesterday in emergency session and issued an order to Dr. Robert Bates, Allcare's owner, to take all reasonable and necessary steps to assure patient access to records and to cooperate fully with State authorities. The Attorney General's Office and the New Hampshire Board of Dental Examiners are continuing to investigate this matter.
