New Hampshire Attorney General Michael A. Delaney, State Police Colonel Frederick H. Booth, and Amherst Police Chief Peter A. Lyon, announce that an investigation is ongoing into the untimely death of Mark Richardson (age 24).
Mr. Richardson was in Manchester yesterday where he experienced medical difficulties and was taken to the Elliott Hospital at approximately 6:30 a.m. The Manchester Police Department was notified and began an investigation. That investigation revealed that Mr. Richardson had been involved in a recent physical altercation in Amherst. The New Hampshire Attorney General's Office, the State Police Major Crime Unit and the Amherst Police Department were all notified and joined the investigation to determine whether that altercation was related to Mr. Richardson's worsening medical condition.
The investigation continued throughout the day and at approximately 2:30 p.m., Mr. Richardson was pronounced dead. As part of the investigation, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy on Mr. Richardson's body tomorrow in Concord.
The circumstances surrounding Mr. Richardson's medical issues and eventual death are still under investigation.
