Attorney General's Task Force on Child Abuse and Neglect gives out the 2009 Dr. Roger M. Fossum Award at its 17th Annual Conference

Attorney General Michael Delaney is pleased to announce the winner of the Attorney General's Task Force on Child Abuse and Neglect's 2009 Dr. Roger M. Fossum Award. This award, given in memory of the State's first Chief Medical Examiner who died in 1994, honors individuals who have made an outstanding commitment to collaborative multidisciplinary efforts to improve services to children affected by abuse and neglect in New Hampshire.

This year's winner is Kristie Palestino who is a founder and Executive Director of the Child Advocacy Center (CAC) of Hillsborough County, where she runs the day-to-day operations of the accredited centers in Nashua and Manchester. In her capacity as Executive Director, she is not only responsible for the finances, human resources and staffing but Ms. Palestino has personally conducting over 1700 forensic interviews of children ages 3 to 18 alleging sexual abuse during her career. According to her nominator, "Kristie is the driving force behind the success of the CACs in Nashua and Manchester. From her first day on the job she has shown dedication and commitment to providing justice to victims of child abuse. She has excelled at her various jobs within the organization, conducting her interviews with competence and compassion, successfully raising money and mentoring her staff to follow her high standards."

Attorney General Delaney said, "We congratulate Kristie Palestino on her award and thank her for her dedication and commitment on behalf of New Hampshire's children."
