Attorney General Kelly A. Ayotte and Salem Police Chief Paul Donovan report that on April 6, 2008 at approximately 5:05 p.m. police responded to a domestic dispute at 87 Lake Shore Road in Salem. William Solberg was transported from that location by ambulance to Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, MA, where he was pronounced dead. Massachusetts Medical Examiner John Parker, M.D. ruled the cause of his death to be a stab wound of the abdomen and the manner of his death to be a homicide.
Police have arrested Scott Hanks (age 49) of Salem, New Hampshire for first degree assault and negligent homicide related to the death of William Solberg, Jr. (age 46) of Pelham, New Hampshire. It is anticipated that Scott Hanks will be arraigned at 3 p.m. this afternoon on these charges.
